 December Festival மார்கழி விழா in the University of Jaffna

I am very much thankful to the Arts Students' Union of the University of Jaffna to celebrate, first time in the history of this higher education center, the மார்கழி விழா (December Festival) in the University of Jaffna to cultivate all the glories belongs to the month of December that has plenty of importance under the context of South Asian nature and culture especially Hinduism.
In advance, there were several competitions conducted among the undergraduate students of the University. All the winner along with the participants are awarded the certificates in this festival.
Hon. Dr. Aru. Thirumurugan extended his blessing to the students and University society for this great initiative. He explained the way how the institutions have to function to motivate the communities in an inclusive manner. He agreed to support this event annually.
Professor. Dr. S. Srisatkunarajah, Vich-chancellor of the University, University of Jafna, appreciated the students for this great initiation. Further he observed a speech on Science and Spirituality through indicating the glory of December, Dance of the lord Sihva, and inner engineering.
The Dean of the Faculty of Hindu Studies and former dean of the same faculty were added the values for this students initiative through their speeches.
Dance, Kathaakaaladchapam (கதாகாலாட்செபம்), Musical Drama (இசை நாடகம்), Villisai (வில்லிசை) and Padimandram (பட்டிமன்றம்) were performed by the students and other professional artists.
I extent my sincere thanks to the Arts Students' Union and students to give a chance me to be a part of this great festival. I pray the Nature and God to bless all to sustain this initiative for long.

Prevention of Students from Drug addiction Programme for the Primary students

Members of the Young Planners' Society, a society that is containing the students of the Bachelor of Arts in Community and Regional Planning Degree Programme attached to the Department of Geography, University of Jaffna, conducted a awareness program on Drug Prevention for the Primary students of the J/Erlalai West Saivasanmarka Vidyasalai on 07.10.2022 (today).

They used the following methods and techniques to aware the children.

1. Performed a drama to create the exposure to the students to aware about the
- causes for Drug addiction and
- impacts due to it in a family environment.

2. Developed a discussion among the performers and students based on performed drama.

3. Empowered the students to safeguards them from the Drug addiction and sexual harassments at famil and society level.

4. Mobilized the children to ensure the safety of them along with thei family with the support of family members and neighbors.

Young Planners' Society is always willing to do the awareness program upon the request of any stakeholders who are working on it.
I am thanking each members who dedicated their time and effort to empower our next generation during this critical situation.
